Thanks for your interest in working with the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. The Festival is now entering its 31st season, producing energetic new interpretations of plays, with the artistry and humanity of the Shakespearean canon as our inspiration and guide. The Festival plays to audiences of over 10,000 every summer and operates under an Actors’ Equity Association U/RTA Tier II contract.
The Festival technical staffs are contracted in two ways. The first is for the build period only from May 14 until July 20. The other is a full summer contract in which the employee works as a run crew, scenic turnaround, or wardrobe member. The dates for this contract are May 14 until August 14. Supervisors are asked to arrive a few days earlier. The Illinois Shakespeare Festival employees between 60-75 talented technicians each summer.
The Festival provides all housing.
Taming of the Shrew opens June 27th, Complete Works opens June 28th, and Titus Andronicus opens July 18th. Plays run in repertory until August 10th, with 36 performances in all. Strike continues until August 14.
